Loretta Larson
Owner and Webmaster

I have built this site to help promote and communicate with women in the poker arena.
As the game of poker spreads in popularity, more women are joining the ranks. Poker is
a good venue for women to use their common sense and patience to make extra money.

Most of the women with whom I've played (in my limited experience), play a solid,
smart game.

Please help me make this site a useful tool for women players. Feel free to send
suggestions, share your experiences and give readers feedback on places you may play.
I especially want to promote women only tournaments. Would like to see a Northwest
woman win next years World Series Women’s event.

You can email me at lorettajl@comcast.net

Thank you and may you have successful gaming.

MAY WOMEN OF THE DRIFT

Posted by lorettalarson at May 9th, 2012

Drift on Inn Casino, Shoreline, Wa.

Tuesday, May 8 and 12 women came to play the $20 buyin $10 bounty tournament. We are slowly growing back to where we were. My hope is that as word spreads and the laughter grows our women will rejoin us.

Because our prize pool is dependent on 18 women playing, we have decided that if we have less than 18 women the bounties will be lowered to $5.00 to increase the prize pool.

Stephanie Spinler came back from Mexico in time to win the tournament. Not only did she win, she also won the two $20 extra bounties that I put on myself and Bonnie. Bonnie England came in second after a hard fought heads up battle.

TUESDAY AT THE DRIFT ON INN

Posted by lorettalarson at May 3rd, 2012

Drift On Inn Casino, Shoreline, Wa.

May Day and the new date for our Womens tournament arrived and unfortunately it was not accompanied by very many women. We had six women come to play the $20 buyin $10 bounty tournament.

Please help me spread the word that our tournament is now on Tuesday and at the Drift On Inn (right across the street from where we were). The Drift has five poker tables, a large table game pit and has had a remodel since last we played there.

I was very excited to get permission to still take pictures and then forgot to do so. The winner of our tournament was Sara (our dealer from the old site and now dealing at the Drift) second was me and Sue Estep came in third to get her entry back.

I hope to see you all back next Tuesday. It’s way too quiet without you all. Loretta

BACK TO THE DRIFT ON INN

Posted by lorettalarson at April 24th, 2012

Drift On Inn Casino, Shoreline, Wa.

The first night at our new site and 12 women came to play. The Crazy Moose moved their tournament to Monday during our down week. As they are offering a satellite to win a seat for the Womens WSOP, we fell short with our number of women.

As a result, permission is now being sought to move the Drift on Inn tournament to Tuesday nights to avoid the conflict.

When we get things up and running the buyin will be $20 with $10 bounty and a $300 prize pool (this is contingent on 18 women playing). Hope to see you all there next Tueday, I will let you know if this doesn’t work but it will.

FIRST WEEKS WINNERS

evonne.jpg
Evonne Thompson took the third prize and received her entry. It was good to see Evonne as she has been unable to play for the last year.

jeannette.jpg
Jeannette Davidson chopped for the first place.

arlene.jpg
Arlene Gaeth also chopped the first prize.

I don’t have permission to take pictures yet, so I did a little cut and paste on our winners. I have lots of photos of all the lovely ladies but would prefer new ones each week.

DAY AFTER EASTER TOURNAMENT

Posted by lorettalarson at April 11th, 2012

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

Twas the day after Easter and some women chose to not participate in the Monday $20 entry $10 bounty tournament. Maybe too much candy, eggs and family took its toll.

This weeks story is mine: I rose pre-flop three and one half the blind with an A-10 of hearts, got one caller. The flop came King of hearts, 2 of hearts and another two. I pushed all in and was called with pocket 2’s. A Queen of hearts came on the turn so hit my flush but needed the Jack of hearts to beat the quads and that did not happpen.

THE WINNERS

Linda Anderson (far left) took 2nd and Jeannette Davidson (center) was 1st, Frieda Feinburg was 3rd. Fun game ladies.

END OF MARCH MADNESS

Posted by lorettalarson at March 29th, 2012

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

Monday March 26 and 28 women played the $20 buyin $10 bounty tournment. The energy was high and pocket A’s got beat by pocket J’s almost immediately, which set the tone for lots of opportunities to say “that’s poker”.

THE WINNERS

At the end of the evening Caroline Jack (far left) and Stephanie Richardson chopped the first place position, Allison Starwich took fourth and got her money back plus blinds and Allyson Hughes (far right) was third. Nice game ladies.

MARCH MONDAY WINNERS

Posted by lorettalarson at March 20th, 2012

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

Monday, March 19 and 22 women played the $20 buyin, $10 bounty tournament for a prize pool of $400.

THE WINNERS

monday-march-19-2012.jpg

On the left Jeannette Davidson took 2nd, Angie took third, Nikki Roland took 4th and Loretta Larson (me) took 1st. After a tough heads up battle I took card dead Jeannette down when she went all in on a straight draw after the flop and I had already flopped a straight (if only she knew).

MID MARCH LADIES

Posted by lorettalarson at March 13th, 2012

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

Rainy Monday, March 12 and 31 women vied for the $400 prize pool plus each others bounties. The buy in was $20. The house says if we have 40 women come to play the $500 prize pool will reappear. It’s all in our hands.

monday-march-12-2012.jpg
About 9:30 and the table is now down to three Jackie Kahn (left) took third
and Freida Feinberg (center) and Allison Starwich (right) decided to chop. Allison went on a huge heater at the final table and had accumulated mass chips with monster cards. Freida in desperation and much less chips was forced to shove with 9-6 etc and kept hitting one of her pair to overcome Allison’s A-Q etc. Ergo, chop. Very fun game to watch.
