Loretta Larson
Owner and Webmaster

I have built this site to help promote and communicate with women in the poker arena.
As the game of poker spreads in popularity, more women are joining the ranks. Poker is
a good venue for women to use their common sense and patience to make extra money.

Most of the women with whom I've played (in my limited experience), play a solid,
smart game.

Please help me make this site a useful tool for women players. Feel free to send
suggestions, share your experiences and give readers feedback on places you may play.
I especially want to promote women only tournaments. Would like to see a Northwest
woman win next years World Series Women’s event.

You can email me at lorettajl@comcast.net

Thank you and may you have successful gaming.

Parker’s Ladies Make it Work

Posted by lorettalarson at January 24th, 2012

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

Monday, January 23 and 17 women arrived to play the $20 buyin $10 bounty tournament. Because our new prize structure drops us from a $400 to $300 prize payout, Jeanette took up a collection of $20 to put one of our women in the tournament that was playing live. Idea being we made our number and she would be blinded out. Of course as soon as this happened we had our real 18th women arrive. Our pretend player finished about 8th in the tournament, never playing a hand.

THE WINNERS

From left to right Kristen Erickson took 3rd, Nicki Roland was the winner and Linda Anderson finished 2nd. Fun night and great job. It was fun having Nicki back playing.

‘TWAS THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS

Posted by lorettalarson at December 27th, 2011

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

The night after Christmas and 19 women escaped the hustle of the holidays to play the $20 buyin, $10 bounty tournament.

In the usual course of poker I saw pocket queens take down pocket aces. I got a strong lead when I played a hand not in my usual range. I had King 2 of spades in the small blind. About 6 players had called so I limp in. The flop came King King King. I checked and to my amazement two players moved all in. $20 in bounties and I rarely have bounties.

The Winners

monday-december-26-2011.jpg

Stephanie Spinler is back in the money taking 3rd and $100, Jeannette Davidson took 2nd and $150 and I took first and $250.

Posted by lorettalarson at December 20th, 2011

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

Monday, December 19 and the holidays didn’t slow the women from playing the $20 buyin $10 bounty tournament.

Taking a break from shopping, wrapping and cooking, the women were in high spirits with laughter, groans and sometimes total shock.

THE WINNERS

monday-dec-19-2011.jpg
As the card dust settled, Bonnie Cook (left) and Kim Williams (far right) chose to chop the prize pool for 1st and 2nd. Hong Gu (center) took third. DECEMBER FUN AT PARKERS’ CASINO AND SPORTS BAR

Posted by lorettalarson at December 6th, 2011

Parkers’ Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

On the 5th day of December 30 women came to play the $20 buyin $10 bounty tournament.

The mood was festive and fun, occasionally hilarious. One hand had 5 women all in and the pot was won by a 6 of diamonds while two of the women had sets. The winner had the only diamond to a four diamond board. Most the women survived as the winner was somewhat short stacked.

After getting busted out of the tournament, Sunny G went to the live play and hit her first straight flush winning $400 for high hand of the hour.

monday-dec-5-2011.jpg

The winners were Saundra Mock (left)took 3rd for $100, after quite a long heads up play, Dorri Quirente (center) and Stephanie Spinler decided to chop the remaining $400.

NOVEMBER WRAP UP TOURNAMENT

Posted by lorettalarson at November 29th, 2011

Parkers Casino and Sports Bar, Shoreline, Wa.

We wrapped up the month with 31 women coming to play the $20 buyin $10 bounty tournament. Excitement was in the air as weaker cards tumbled stronger cards on a regular basis. SG moved all in and was called by TC, SG’s Aces fell to TC’s Jacks when a jack came on the flop. Poker can be a cruel game.

THE WINNERS

monday-november-28-2011.jpg
The final table narrowed down to three with Melissa being the bubble woman again. The winners were left to right Allison Starwich took second and $150 after Sue Estep took first and $250 with her pocket fours. Joann Chapman was third and won $100. Fun game ladies.
